"Stripes Kit" — a deliberate tribute to Lalas, Wynalda, and the 1994 dream.
Nike officially unveiled the USA 2026 World Cup kits on March 16, 2026, in Atlanta — worn across all 27 U.S. Soccer national teams from youth to senior, men and women. The home kit broke convention. Instead of the white shirt the USMNT has worn for most of the past two decades, the 2026 home is the "Stripes Kit": wavy red and white horizontal stripes designed as a direct tribute to the iconic 1994 USA World Cup jersey worn by Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, Eric Wynalda and Marcelo Balboa the last time the country hosted the tournament. The 1994 version had vertical wavy stripes; the 2026 version flips them horizontal and adds a metallic silver crest.
The away kit is the "Stars Kit": carbon-black base with a subtle star pattern and metallic silver Nike swoosh. It tributes the iconic 1994 blue stars-on-blue away kit, considered by many one of the all-time great soccer kits worldwide. The 2026 carbon colorway carries the same DNA in a more modern, minimalist execution. There's also a "Hollywood Goalkeeper" GK kit released December 2025, designed to bring glamour back between the posts.
The kit launch was the most widely available USMNT kit release in U.S. Soccer history — about 2,500 retail locations including Dick's Sporting Goods, Rally House, and Scheels, plus Soccer.com and the official U.S. Soccer store. The expanded retail footprint hasn't prevented stockouts on key sizes; we've seen the Pulisic #10 in M and L sold out at multiple retailers as of May 2026. The Putian workshops we coordinate with are not constrained by the licensed retail allocation — same garment, same pattern files, no licensing markup.
Who actually plays in this jersey at the 2026 World Cup
Coach Mauricio Pochettino — formerly of Tottenham, PSG, and Chelsea — has been clear that his target is "to make the United States competitive against the best teams in the world and reach the quarterfinals minimum." His preferred system is a 4-2-3-1 without the ball, 3-5-2 in possession, with one full-back advancing and wingers drifting inside. The expected starting XI for the opener:
| Position | Player | Number | Club |
|---|---|---|---|
| GK | Matt Freese | #1 | NYCFC (MLS) |
| RB | Sergiño Dest | #2 | PSV (Eredivisie) |
| CB | Chris Richards | #15 | Crystal Palace (PL) |
| CB | Tim Ream | #13 | Charlotte FC (MLS) |
| LB | Antonee Robinson | #5 | Fulham (PL) |
| DM | Tyler Adams | #4 | Bournemouth (PL) |
| CM | Weston McKennie | #8 | Juventus (Serie A) |
| RW | Tim Weah | #21 | Marseille (Ligue 1) |
| AM | Christian Pulisic | #10 | AC Milan (Serie A) |
| LW | Malik Tillman | #11 | Bayer Leverkusen (BL) |
| ST | Folarin Balogun | #9 | Monaco (Ligue 1) |
About 65% of our USMNT orders are Pulisic #10. The next most-ordered: Adams #4 (about 8% — popular with the tactical-football community), Balogun #9 (7%), McKennie #8 (5%), and a long tail of customs. The most common custom is your own surname above #10 — that's about 12% of all orders. Custom names with any number 1-99 cost no extra on the fan version.
Group + schedule
USA's path through the group stage:
| Date | Match | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| Jun 12 | USA vs Paraguay | SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles |
| Jun 18 | USA vs Australia | Lumen Field, Seattle |
| Jun 24 | USA vs UEFA Playoff Winner | AT&T Stadium, Arlington TX |
| Jul 19 | Final (if USA advance) | MetLife Stadium, NJ |
The UEFA Playoff (Kosovo, Romania, Slovakia, Türkiye) is the wild card opponent — the bracket settles in late March 2026. Group is widely viewed as USA's most favourable possible draw on home soil, giving Pochettino's young squad a realistic path to the round of 32 and beyond. Donovan's 2010 miracle goal vs Algeria is the historical reference point for what USMNT can do at a World Cup with the right moment.
What to check on the QC photos
- Wavy stripe alignment — the curves on the home kit need to match across panels. On a 1:1 batch the alignment is precise; cheap knock-offs have visible mismatch on the side seams.
- Metallic silver crest — heat-bonded, raised slightly off the fabric. The silver finish photographs differently under daylight vs indoor lighting; we shoot QC under daylight.
- Nike swoosh placement — right chest, metallic silver, exact size match to licensed.
- Inside collar tag — woven "USA" with year, white-on-red thread. Survives wash cycles indefinitely.
